Bereavement

Unfortunately our pets do not live as long as we do. When the time comes to say goodbye most of us are deeply affected by the loss of our pet. The grieving process in the loss of a loved person or pet is a well documented cycle which can extend over a variable time period. Your feelings of shock, anger, depression and acceptance are really quite normal and if you feel that you would like to talk to somebody please feel free to contact the surgery and ask for a call from our trained psychological counsellor.

When the sad time comes, you will be asked by the consulting veterinary surgeon as to what you would like done with your pet once he or she has passed away. The majority of clients prefer to leave their pets with us for either individual or normal cremation. We will organise your preferred preference.  You may prefer to take your pet home with you for burial.

Individual cremation options include the return of your pet’s ashes in either a scattering container or in a wooden casket. We have a very reliable local company that does our cremations and have used them for many years.  Normal cremation means that your pet’s ashes are not returned to you.

There is a charge for all cremations. If you would like an estimate please feel free to speak to one of our receptionists at any of our surgeries.
